Step by step

What actually happens

    Walking in

    No appointment needed. Walk in during office hours, or call ahead if you'd like. Tell us roughly what's going on, and keep in mind a first visit takes longer than a follow-up.

    Arriving

    Come as you are. There's paperwork, but it's short, and you'll do it in a normal waiting room rather than a corporate lobby.

  3. 03

    The conversation

    Dr. Anderson asks what happened, what makes it better or worse, what you've already tried, and what you want to get back to doing. This is the part most offices rush.

  4. 04

    The examination

    How you move, where it hurts, what's stiff, what's weak, and relevant orthopedic and neurological testing. He'll tell you what he's checking as he goes.

  5. 05

    The explanation

    What he thinks is going on in plain language, what he'd recommend, roughly how long he'd expect it to take, and what would make him change the plan or refer you out.

  6. 06

    Your decision

    You leave with a recommendation, not a contract. Start today, think about it, or take the referral. All three are fine answers.

Practical details

  • What to wear: comfortable clothes you can move in. Nothing restrictive.
  • What to bring: your ID, insurance card if you have one, and any imaging or records related to the problem.
  • How long it takes: a first visit is typically 45 minutes or less, and most of that is spent talking and examining, not filling out forms.
  • Referral needed? No. In Washington you can see a chiropractor directly.

Insurance, cost and policies

  • Insurance: most plans with chiropractic benefits are accepted. Call the office before your visit and we'll check your benefits so you know where you stand.
  • Paying out of pocket: a cash adjustment is $70. Financial recommendations are made the same way care recommendations are: based on what you actually need, not a standard package.
  • Auto accidents and work injuries: PIP claims and Washington L&I claims are accepted and billed directly.
  • Payment methods: cash, check, and credit or debit cards.
  • Cancellations: there's no cancellation fee. Life happens. Just let us know.

What happens during my first chiropractic appointment?
Your first visit is mostly listening and examining. You'll tell Dr. Anderson what's going on and what you're trying to get back to doing, he'll examine how you move and where the problem shows up, and then he'll explain what he thinks is happening and what he recommends. If chiropractic care isn't the right fit, he'll tell you that directly.
Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?
In Washington you do not need a referral from a medical doctor to see a chiropractor, you can schedule directly. Some insurance plans have their own requirements, so it's worth checking with your plan.
Will I be adjusted during my first appointment?
Not always, and that's on purpose. Whether you receive care on the first visit depends on what the examination shows and what's appropriate for you. Dr. Anderson would rather understand the problem first than rush a care plan that may not fit.
